SEAN HANNITY will be speaking at De Anza College, Cupertino, CA on Dec 8 Wednesday. I think you can hear the broadcast on the web on wwww.ksfo.com. Tickets to the event have been sold out. Hannity's liberal co-host, Alan Colmes will also be there.
Cupertino, CA for those of you haven't heard is where a high school principal prohibited the teacher from sharing the the writings of the founding fathers such as George Washington and the Declaration of Independence because the writings menioned God. How hypocritical ! Liberals are always first to cry "Separation of church and state" when the matter is something that offends them such as God. But where are those hypocrites when liberal congresswoman Nancy Pelosi gets a million dollars for a private Catholic colllege? I think that private college is U.S.F which is Catholic in name only. I guess the liberals believe that only liberal religious groups are entitled to taxpayers money.
I thought I'd mention some books which you may want to read
for reference.
1) HELL IS OVER by Mike Tucker. This is a moving account of the Kurds' struggle for a homeland. The Kurds have been fighting against Iraq since 1961. They definitely want the Americans in Iraq. This book is a collection of accounts by various Kurds recounting battles, imprisonments and massacres. I think the so called anti war crowd is hypocrical in that they wail over the abuses at Abu Ghraib prison by the Americans but conveniently ingore the atrocities under Saddam's regime. I wonder what would happen if the Kurds were allowed to run the prison? I suspect they would regard that as payback time. I don't know if the author has been overly biased towards the Kurds. From his account the Kurds really want to help out. But the American military seems to have the attitude of "Thanks for your help, now get lost." The author feels we are ignoring a valuable resource by not working with the Kurds. One of the Kurds claimed that their intelligence knew that Saddam was supporting Al Qeda before the Americans made the charge. The author wrties that we could succeed with the Kurds or fail without them. The Kurds aided greatly to capture Mosul, but afterwards where disarmed and not allowed to occupy the city. Personally I think the Kurds should occupy parts if not all of the Sunni Triangle including Fallujah and Tikrit. If the Turks don't approve. So what? Those Turks (Turkeys) didin't give us any help during the war. I am not sure of the author's political affiliation. But I note the book has a blurb from Democrat Bob Kerry (Not John) and a dedication in part to the memory of Robert Kennedy.
2) LOVE, WAR AND POVERTY by Christopher Hitchens. I think this is the title. One particular essay caught my attention. While Mr Hitchens is a leftist, he has been supportive of the war effort in Iraq. My guess is that he is highly sympathetic to the plight of the Kurds. I found his esssy on Michael Moore's film Fahrenheit 9/11 to be a devastating critique of the film. The essay was entitled UNFAIRENHEIT 9/11. Hitchens writes that to call the film "dishonest" and "demagogic" would be to elevate those words to respectability. Another word under consideration is "crap."
But he decided against getting into a discussion of excrement. If you want to read an articulate justification for going to war and a refutation of Michael Moore's garbage this is a most informative essay. I find it amusing that leftist Hitchens seems to be defending the hated George Bush at one point. He takes issue with Moore for his critique of Bush's initial reaction when Bush first heard of the attacks. He also points to evidence showing that Saddam had terrorist connections. Evidence that the so called anti war crowd has chosen to ignore.
3) A MATTER OF CHARACTER. On a different note, you may want to check out the chapter "Why Johnny still can't read." in the book A MATTER OF CHARACTER by Kessler. While this book is primarily about the character of George Bush, I think that particular chapter provides some insight into the new education secretary Margaret Spellman. My impression is that she is a woman who really cares about the education of children unlike those bureaucrats who are more interested in wasting taxpayers money. At very least she want them to be able to read.
