Re: The Iraq "Quagmire"

In a note the other day, Guy wrote the following [edited for publication] which I thought should be posted.  -Ed.
 
It is too bad the media only reports our casualties and not the heroic efforts of the troops. 
Yes, I wish there were no casualties. I wish there were no casualites instead of 1,800 deaths in roughly two years.  [Don't forget the 3000 at the WTC and Pentagon; action in Iraq has still cost us loss than inaction prior to 2001. -ed]  But please note that Patton's one army suffered 20,000 casualites.  That's just one army.
 
2000 elederly people died in one day in France due to the heat wave and the callousness of the young people in regards to their parents.  Perhaps we should shoot all the French who let their parents die?

There were 16,694 drunk driving deaths in the United States last year (source).  That's nearly ten times the Iraq casalties.  I wonder if those who advocate a pull out from Iraq, would want to ban alchohol?
