THE PARTY OF DEATH by Ramesh Ponnuru

THE PARTY OF DEATH by Ramesh Ponnuru
ISBN: 1-59698=004-4

This book is a very eye opening and disturbing book about how the culture of death has pervaded our society. While both Democrats and
Republican have pro-abortion/ pro death members, the pro abortion/ pro
euthanasia/ pro embryonic stem cell people have captured the leadership of the Democratic party. Hence the title.

The author first addresses the misconception about ROE decision of 1973 in the chapter "Overturning a Myth." Many people mistakenly think the decision only lifted the prohibition against abortion in the first three months of pregnancy. In reality, ROE (in conjunction with DOE v. Bolton) effectively imposed unrestricted abortion on the United States and quashed the debate that was going on at the level of the state legislature.

The author in his chapter "Corrupting History" how the pro abortion
side in support of ROE presented a false view of abortion in the United States claiming that the "right to chose" (i.e. abortion) was
recognized from the founding of the United States and that restrictions against abortion were added later in the nineteenth century for less than noble reasons (e.g. racism). The author effectively debunks this claim stating that abortion was an indictable offense under common law and that the later restrictions were
added because legislators, reinforced by scientific advances, believed that abortion was the unjustified taking of human life (pg. 116). This chapter is a must read on how the abortion side produced a totally manufactured history. This reminds me of Jack Cashill's book HOODWINKED, which examines the various frauds, bogus studies and false histories taught to the American people.

The author also points out that the argument over life has moved
beyond the issue of abortion to infanticide. He predicts that infanticide may become accepted practice. And if killing the unborn and infants is o.k., then what is to stop the killing of the elderly
or disabled?

The author argues for the "sanctity of life." It is this very
foundational principle which the Nazi's attacked as documented in the book FROM DARWIN TO HITLER by Richard Weikart. So, the pro life view is NOT the Nazi view.

Europe, Japan and to a lesser extent, the United States face the problem of an aging population and a low birthrate. A low birthrate means less of a tax base to support society's infrastructure. And some may say to save on social security, one should simply ask the old to die. Acceptance of the pro death mentality (abortion to euthanasia) has consequences. It will lead to the death of society. May God have mercy on us. May we once again chose life.
