MENACE IN EUROPE by Claire Berlinski

For those who think that Europe is the model that the United States
should follow, this book, by Claire Berlinski, MENACE IN EUROPE (ISBN: 1-4000-9768-1), debunks that fantasy.

Because of Europe's low birthrate, this continent has had to import
immigrants. Many of these discontented immigrants do not want to
assimilate. The riots in France have borne that out. For those who think abortion does not have practical consequences think again.
This low birthrate also means a diminishing tax base with which to support it's generous social programs. It is interesting that the author, a secular Jew, is making the same point as Roman Catholic
politician Pat Buchanan.

Also the author points out that the decline of Christianity in Europe
has left a spiritual vacuum and a lack of resolve. She points how the Dutch caved in when Theo Van Gough was assassinated and when
the Spanish were hit with bomb attacks.

Another thing which alarms the author is the popularity of a German band, Rammstein, which uses symbols reflecting a Nazi past. The band members deny any sympathy to Nazism. But the author, a secular Jew is definitely disturbed by what she sees. As an exercise she shows a number of statements and asks the reader to pick which statement is by Goebbels and which by Rammstein. She says Goebbels, the Nazi propaganda minister was more articulate. I think her comments on this
band may tie in with Gene Veith's book MODERM FASCISM.

She also thinks the idea of a united Europe is a fantasy. The French
definitely did not want to give up their sovereignty to a United Europe.

I do not know if there is hope of the West. But God has shown mercy
on the Israel of old in the past. Perhaps he may show mercy if we
turn to him and ask for mercy.
