Glad you like the look. As to the word choice, there are a couple of transitive uses for "engage" which can be illustrated by the following:
engage one's senses
engage a servant
engage a person (eg in conversation)
engage the parking brake
engage photon torpedoes
engage the enemy
I'm sure at least a few of these would be apply. However, I think it's a shortening of office jargon - you have to be engaging for the client so if you have a productive interaction you've successfully engaged him.
